The Hummingbird Dance
ERICA WEE
Acrylic on Canvas
61 x 91cm
2023
Only a few inches long, hummingbirds are the smallest of all bird species. They may be tiny, but speedy. Compact, but resilient. Mini bodies, but with big appetites.
Capable of flapping their wings more than eighty times per second, they create an actual humming sound that gives them their name. These aerial acrobats can actually hover mid-air, and uniquely among birds, even fly backwards and upside-down.
Never underestimate the power of the tiny - hummingbirds make up for their lack in size with their big personalities, packing a punch in small packages!
