Wong Shih Yaw Abraham

Artist Profile

Wong Shih Yaw Abraham is a key alumnus of the seminal Singapore collective Artists Village.  His works are widely collected by the National Gallery, The Singapore Art Museum, United Overseas Bank, and private collectors. Recent large-scale solo exhibitions of his were held at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts in 2015, and at ArtSpace@Helutrans in 2019.

Shih Yaw Abraham’s artworks generally share his reflections on man’s search for life's answers. His painting styles are versatile, and have ranged from raw expressionism, realism, illustration, abstraction and symbolism. As a Christian artist, Shih Yaw Abraham has continually innovated original imagery distinct from Western Christian iconography. 

Besides painting, Shih Yaw also does candid sketching of people, wood/lino-cutprintmaking, illustrations, and art-teaching to children and adults and to the TOUCH special needs community. He has also executed large commissioned mural projects, most recently for Novena Church in Singapore.
