The founder of Sound of Art reveals the process behind designing The Remembrance Series. This Series is produced as a collaboration between Sound of Art, The Life Art and HCA Hospice Care.
The Remembrance series is a collection of five artworks, telling the story of a life well lived. Painted by Sound of Art’s artist Glacy Soh with terminally-ill patients, it is a glorious celebration of life. They depict the themes of youth, marriage, family, generational blessings and the golden years. Proceeds go to HCA Hospice Care, Singapore’s largest home hospice care provider and a registered charity that provides its services for free to patients.
The Remembrance Series Masks
We have adapted the artworks as designs for a limited edition collection of face masks. Wear them as a stylish manner of staying safe.
The masks come in handy packs of 3 and are available at SGD$20.40 per pack (inclusive of postage). Besides being a statement of support for this good cause, they also make great gifts for all ages.
Proceeds go to HCA Hospice Care, Singapore’s largest home hospice care provider.

Youth
Bursting forth with youthful abandon, the swallow swoops from under his mother’s wings into fields of potential. He soars into the balm of the new dawn, and meanders the curious aromas of fresh flowers and sweet dew. The world is his nest, his ventures as boundless as his wings may take him.
Marriage
The treasures of fresh nectar and wild honey satisfy, but none as sweet as love. Gracefully she glides before his eyes, and all the luscious sights and lofty dreams pale in an instant. He could conquer the meadows of the world and rule it, or he could woo the captor of his heart and nourish it. Forsake the world, only pursue love.
Family
Tenderness begets tenderness, and a labour of love yields treasures the meadows envy. It is not the nectar that warms the swallow’s heart, but his darling’s head upon his bosom. It is not the dull flowers, but his darling’s vibrant eyes. It is not the bland nectar, but his darling’s sweet melody.
Generational Blessings
If the swallow chased the meadows, they would always elude him. But he pursued true treasures, and they always find him. All his days he is rich in heart; he is never in want. His darlings’ darlings multiply bliss, and he is fulfilled.
Remembrance
In greying years, a lone swallow shivers and fears. Even the meadows taunt him. But he who loves is loved tilled the end. Love is wisdom, and the greying lover imparts much treasure to his darlings. What matters? Love does; love to the end.
The Metamorphosis Series
Through the generosity of a donor, the Metamorphosis Series became the second set of artworks
painted by Glacy Soh and the HCA patients.
A commentary on the journey of growth, the five paintings follow the life cycle of a butterfly.
The paintings will be displayed at the HCA Hospice.

Exploration
Flitting from flower to flower, the monarch butterfly’s flight is slow and unhurried. It takes in the vibrant colours of the world, relishing in its beauty. Such is the optimism and energy of the young as they venture into the unknown.
Connection
Amongst the flowers, they notice another of their kind. Realising he has found his soulmate, the male butterfly dances around the female until she accepts his love. They mate befittingly on a pink peony flower, which symbolises the beauty of marriage.
Disruption
The eggs hatch, and out crawls caterpillars. Only able to crawl around, they are unable to see what more life has to offer. They nibble on the leaves, destroying the beauty of the flowers in the field. Behind them, white lilies sway, signifying grief as they face their growing pains.
Reflection
The caterpillar steels itself in preparation for a season of contemplation. It secures itself into a chrysalis, allowing it time to look inward, learning from the lessons in life. Yet, there is hope to be found in what is to come.
Transformation
Emerging from the pupa stage into a full-fledged butterfly, it is a testament that while change is difficult, it can be rewarding. The monarch flies out into the vast sky, embracing whatever that may come its way.
