Artist-in-Residence featuring Joanne Lim
Sound of Art partners with Ascott to present an Artist-in-Residence pilot as part of Ascott’s Go-Local campaign that supports local artists in the month of Singapore’s independence. With the historic conservation building of Ascott Raffles Place as creative inspiration, local calligrapher and artist, Joanne Lim, will set up her studio for 2 months in the hotel’s residences’ lounge alongside other programmes.

Painting Letters
1st August - 30th September 2023
Joanne Lim is a renowned local artist and calligrapher. The selection of works showcases the first fruits of her foray into combining calligraphy and abstract strokes to create ‘calligraphic paintings’.
Art Workshop on Fine Script Calligraphy
5th August 2023, 3 - 5pm
In this 2 hour workshop, experience the romance of writing all over again. With the increasing exposure to screen time, many of us have forgotten the simple pleasure writing brings. Slow down and savour the joy of putting ink to paper. Learn how to use the traditional dip nib pen as a way to unwind and rediscover the beauty of writing.

Catch the artist in her moment of creation as she paints with the historic conservation of Ascott Raffles Place Singapore building as creative inspiration.
Ascott Guests are invited to watch the artist at work, observe her process and even participate as she involves guests from time to time.
