Upcast means to look up; it is the opposite of downcast. When we cast our nets down, we catch things of the world, but when we cast our nets up—setting our sights on dreams, goals, or a higher purpose—the sky is the limit.

Glacy has incorporated the use of AR into Upcast. Interact with the painting and watch it come to life by scanning a QR code, now available at Pan Pacific Singapore from 26 August to 25 September.

What is AR?
Augmented reality (AR) is the real-time use of information in the form of text, graphics, audio and other virtual enhancements integrated with real-world objects. Simply put, it is just creating a layer over something real using technology.

What is the difference between Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR)?
AR uses a real-world setting while VR is completely virtual.

What is purpose of AR ?
Augmented reality is used to either visually change natural environments in some way or to provide additional information to users. The primary benefit of AR is that it manages to blend digital and three-dimensional (3D) components with an individual's perception of the real world. For Glacy, it brings her artworks to life.

How does one access the AR work?
Scan the available QR code with your phone, then point the phone to the painting and the AR will be activated.
