Old City Hall is a national monument that became part of Singapore's National Gallery in 2005. Since then, it has undergone major renovation works and was reopened to the public in 2015. This building has witnessed many pivotal events in the nation’s history, such as the public acceptance of Japan's surrender to the Allied Forces in September 1945 and the pronouncement of Singapore's national flag and anthem in December 1959.
