In a world bathed with sunlight and hope, opportunities always abound. The sunflower stands tall in a field of its peers. It reaches out towards the sun, basking in its warmth and glow. Did you know that the sunflower faces and follows the direction of the sun, as it moves throughout the day? Follow the sun, and you will find the right way to live, casting aside whatever hinders as you reach for your dreams.

Hock Sik’s life was filled with difficulties. His father died when he was young, leaving his deaf mother to care for 4 children, but it never stopped him from living a life filled with colour.

About Follow The Sun

Adventure Beckons is the first painting out of a series of 4.

Helen Keller says, “Keep your face to the sun and you cannot see the shadows. It's what the sunflowers do.” Inspired by Hock Sik, a deaf person raised in Singapore, and his life story, Sound of Art’s artist Glacy Soh painted 4 panel paintings that capture his life, challenges and aspirations. It is Glacy’s wish that all of the beneficiaries of the Singapore Association for the Deaf (SADeaf) will smile at the world and stand tall with their heads held high.
