COVID Fundraiser Reflections Part II

Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, we wanted to bring comfort to the community around us. We organised a fundraising art sale, where each of artists chose a charity they want to support through the sale of their artworks.

In this particularly dark storm, we believed that beyond financial support, our local community needed spiritual comfort. This inspired our devotional series aimed at bringing reassurance of Divine Provision and Hope. We sent the devotionals via WhatsApp and we provide them here for you. May they bring refreshment to your soul and anchor you to our Source of Strength.

Consider the Mountains

Our life is a journey full of mountains to climb. We have worries, problems and obstacles. Sometimes they are very daunting. We hike, pant and crawl our way uphill shaking from weakness and fear. Sometimes it gets discouraging when there is no end in sight.

Yet these mountains we climb are the same mountains where God meets us. Think of the mountain where Moses saw God’s back. Think of the mountain where Elijah heard God’s Voice in a soft whisper. These were difficult mountains to climb. Moses bore the weight of leading Israel. Elijah fled for his life feeling alone. And yet God met them in their journey.

God meets us on our mountains. He gives us Manna from heaven and food from ravens. He delivers us from torture in Egypt and terror of Jezebel. He shows us His power and holiness and His gentleness and mercy. So receive from Him and speak to your mountain.

Truly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him. Mark 11:23

Dear Heavenly Father, You are with us. You go before us, You walk beside us and You comfort inside us. When we fall, You pick us up. When we are hopeless, You are Hope. When we are lost, You are our Way. When we are dead, You are our Life. God we bless You. You love us, and we love You. In Jesus’ Name we pray, Amen.

This Is My Song

This-is-My-Song.jpg

How passionate is God’s love for us? How precious are His thoughts for us? How intimately does He know us to know what we are fond of doing? Our Heavenly Father rejoices over us. He sings and celebrates us.

There is nothing more beautiful than the Maker of the Universe celebrating insignificant people like us. We run away from our Heavenly Father for vain things and yet He runs after us when we come back empty. God is bursting with love and He gives it over and over again. And that creates a song bursting from inside us.

This is my song. It is a song that leaps from the tip of my tongue because God’s love overwhelms me. It is a song that never runs dry because God’s love overflows in me. I am reminded of the Song of Solomon. God’s love is like two lovers romancing and faint with love.

Like a lily among thorns
is my darling among the young women.
Song of Solomon 2:2

Our Heavenly Father,
Where can I go from your Spirit?
Where can I flee from your presence?
If I go up to the heavens, you are there;
If I make my bed in the depths, you are there.
If I rise on the wings of the dawn,
If I settle on the far side of the sea,
Even there your hand will guide me,
Your right hand will hold me fast.
I rejoice in Your love.
In Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen

On The Lookout

Do you feel down and out? Be on the lookout. Our present difficulty is fleeting, but God’s blessings last forever. It is very tempting for our perspective to be trapped in a moment in time when things don’t work our way. However, God is faithful over all of time.

Let us also be on the lookout as we prepare for our King’s wedding. We are like His servants holding oil lamps awaiting His wedding. Fill our hearts with the Holy Spirit so that our faith does not burn out before His glorious arrival. It may seem like He is delayed, but that wonderful day will come when we are least suspecting.

Just like a leopard intensely scanning the horizon for threats encroaching on its territory, we must be on the lookout for the evil one lingering in the darkness preying on our hearts. Jesus is returning.

You are all children of the light and children of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness. So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be awake and sober. 1 Thessalonians 5:5-6

Our Heavenly Father, You are present with us and You will be with us forever. We are excited for Jesus’ return. Help us stay faithful to You just as You are faithful to us. Help us to be on the lookout for You and guard our hearts for You. In Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen.
