COVID Fundraiser Reflections Part I

Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, we wanted to bring comfort to the community around us. We organised a fundraising art sale, where each of artists chose a charity they want to support through the sale of their artworks. In this particularly dark storm, we believed that beyond financial support, our local community needed spiritual comfort. This inspired our devotional series aimed at bringing reassurance of Divine Provision and Hope. We sent the devotionals via WhatsApp and we provide them here for you. May they bring refreshment to your soul and anchor you to our Source of Strength.

Consider The Sunrise

Each new morning is a gift. It is God’s divine faithfulness to us. Notice that when we gaze at the rising sun, all other things seem dark. So too when we turn our eyes to the Son of God, all the things of earth will grow strangely dim. No problem can rob the joy of being with God.

However, in this COVID-19 trial, it is a dark night of the soul. We are surrounded by winds of uncertainties and shadows of gloom. But take heart, just as morning comes after each lonely and fearful night, God will indeed shine His light on you.

All of creation declares God’s promises to you. As we relish in the balming warmth of the morning sun, let us consider the sunrise, how it teaches us about God’s faithfulness. And in our desperation for help, let us hope. Because indeed weeping may tarry through the night, but joy comes in the morning.

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases;
his mercies never come to an end;
they are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness.
Lamentations 3:22-23

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for Your faithfulness to us. Your grace and Your favour make everything pale in comparison. Truly because of You I lack nothing. Even in my sorrows, You bring me hope. Shine your face upon me so that I may see You. Thank You for Your steadfast love. In Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen.

More than a Conqueror 2

More Than A Conqueror 2.JPG

As Christians, we have victory in Christ over our temptations, over our circumstances and over death itself. The present darkness around us tempts us in many ways and our sin may get the better of us. But we have the Holy Spirit in us resisting the flesh and succeeding in molding us to be like Christ.

Outside of ourselves, sometimes things appear hopeless. But God is sovereign, He is in control and He is our Victory. Jesus has promised us “In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” In a changing world, place your trust in an unchanging God.

Although the world around us is dark and gloomy, God’s blessing descends from above and overcomes our present darkness. In the midst of fear, we can have peace. In the midst of sorrow, we can have joy. When there is lack, God gives us abundance. When we put our trust in God, out of this darkness, our hearts will be changed and we will be refined like pure gold.

In all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 8:37-39

Heavenly Father, You are the Maker of the Universe. You see us through our weaknesses and save us from terror. We trust You alone because You are faithful and You are in control. Nothing is too big for You. We pray that You show Yourself as Provider to the poor and Strength to the frontliners. Let all the world know that You are our Hope. In Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen.

Tomorrow

Tomorrow.jpg

I don't know about tomorrow
I just live from day to day
I don't borrow from its sunshine
For its skies may turn to gray
I don't worry o'er the future
For I know what Jesus said
And today I'll walk beside Him
For He knows what is ahead

Many things about tomorrow
I don't seem to understand
But I know who holds tomorrow
And I know who holds my hand

Covid-19 is shaking the earth and bringing fears and uncertainty. In the midst of this, we have Hope, and this is God who holds our tomorrow. All of our days were written in God’s book and ordained for us even before one of them came to be.

However, not everyone knows about our Hope. When job security is gone, health is at risk and people feel lonely in their worries, this is where we can share our Hope. Let us reach out to those who are hit the hardest. Let our love be like tender hues of hope and joy. And let us pray that God will keep them in the pink of health.

Truly my soul finds rest in God;
my salvation comes from him.
Truly he is my rock and my salvation;
he is my fortress, I will never be shaken.
Psalm 62:1-2

Almighty Father, You are in control of every situation. Your Word assures us that You are always with us, providing for us and protecting us. You are our Hope. And we want to share this Hope we have. We pray for Christians to reach out to the poor with generosity and bless our frontliners with encouragement. Show them that You hold their tomorrow. In Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen.
